Instability

In a large number of "vintage" amplifiers, most of the transistors used are no longer manufactured. Simply substituting them with "similar" parts often lead to instabilty.

This is clearly illustrated by the green transistors on the left. They are not original SAEs.

The resultant outcome is instability, depicted by the ringing observed in the 10KHz Sq display.

Product Description

This SAE Mk IVC has been completely redesigned to improve its performance. Instead of the original Quasi-complementary outputs, its power stage is now Full Complementary. The drive circuitry though, has been retained to preserve the essence of the original design.

Manufactured between 1973-1974, the SAE Mk IVC is still one of the most musical amplifiers around.
